Solang Valley : An area
offering great views of snow-capped mountains and glaciers.
Just 13km from Manali, Solang Valley also hosts activities
such as paragliding, horse riding and ski training.
Rani Nala : A glacier point 46km from Manali, where snow can be found all year round. Rohtang Pass : Rohtang Pass is 51km from Manali and gives a great view of the mountains, valleys and glaciers below. You also get the chance to see the Dashohar Lake, Sonepani glacier and the twin peaks of the Geypang - jagged pyramids of rock covered in snow.
Rohalla Falls : 15km from
Manali and at an altitude of 2501m, these falls can be found
at the start of the climb to Rohtang Pass.
Hadimaba Devi Temple : An ancient Temple built in 1550 AD, this highly decorated wooden Temple stands in a forest of deodar trees. Vashist Bath : A natural, hot water sulphur spring which lies in the small village of Vashist on the left side of the River Beas, just 3km from Manali.
Manikaran : Manikaran lies in
the Parvati Valley, 85km from Manali, and is famous for its
hot springs that are believed to have healing properties.
Naggar : The old capital of Kullu, Naggar is 25km from Manali on the left side of the river. Here you will find Naggar Castle (built by Raja Bhosal and now a hotel), Roerich Art Gallery (a museum containing a collection of paintings by Nicholas Roerich), and a great view of the valley below. Tibetan Market : Situated at one end of the mall in Manali, you can find all kinds of handicrafts and imported goods in this area. There is also a Tibetan Monastery near to the market that you can visit.
Skiing : Skiing can be done
at Solang Valley, just 13km from Manali. Season time is
January - March.
White Water Rafting : Many local adventure companies offer white water rafting on the River Beas, even if you are unable to swim. Season time is May - July. Paragliding : Available in Solang Valley and organised by local companies, you can glide high above the mountains.
Trekking : Manali and the
surrounding Kullu region provide tourists with a great variety
of trekking routes.
The Mountaineering Institute & Allied Sports : Based in Manali, this institute provides training for rock climbing, skiing, heli-skiing and trekking. Other Activities : Hot-Air Balloon, Camping, River Crossing, Jeep Safari.
